Dear M‑ Harris

I have just begun my work on The Uncle Remus Fables.

Hope I shall please you with my part, shall make several full pages for wood cuts and a number [?] of ½ and ¼ pages for process work. As The Animals are limited and Mr. Rabbit plays such a conspicuous part in each I shall have to take great pains not to repeat myself and some will go without illustrations. May I ask what your idea is of Miss Meadows and if I should bring her in what [?] should she look like I didn't know but what it meant just nature which would be a good point to depict as a pretty girl

in simple costume, making a charming contrast to the [?]positions of the animals. Much obliged for your good opinions of my ability as an artist and hoping to please you with my efforts

I remain

Yours
